Wedding Dress-up

Last week Chris and I celebrated 9 years of wedding bliss!  I love my sweet hubby so much!

After Chris left that morning with Aaron, I got out my wedding album to look at with Claire.  She thinks I look beautiful in my wedding pictures, like a princess!

"Do you still have that dress?" Claire asked.

"Yes, I do," I replied.

"Where is it?" she asked.

"In my closet," I told her.

Her eyes lit up.  "Can I see it??" she asked, excitedly.

Since Hannah wasn't up for the day yet, I decided to go ahead and get it out for her, and me, to see.  First, I put it on, and she took my picture.  I can't believe I even let her take my picture--I had not been out of bed long, no shower, no makeup...I had not even brushed my hair or teeth!  But, I'm a sucker for capturing the moment, so I let her snap away.

I really should have closed my closet door.

Claire was funny about making me wear the "top" (the veil). She liked that part.

And yes, my dress still fits.  The a-line is very forgiving of my belly pudge.  Yay!

Then, we let her try it on. She thought I was crazy when I suggested it, but she tried anyway.

She told me she might wear it one day in her wedding. I have no expectation that she will want to, as by then it will be outdated and ugly, but I'm glad she thinks it's beautiful now!

Happy 9th Anniversary Chris!

Aaron's love for trucks

As we all know, Aaron has a deep love for trucks. He picked out this wooden fire truck at the consignment sale and he couldn't be happier.

Quailty family time

The new loveseat we bought has given us lots of nice family togetherness! That's the whole family, minus the lady behind the camera.

Sweet moment

Today Claire woke up from her nap, only to find almost everyone else still sleeping. (Love Saturday afternoon naps!!) She crawled up on the new loveseat with Daddy, and fell back asleep.

Hannah loves her big brother

When I scheduled my surgery, I racked my brain for someone to keep Hannah. My friend Michelle immediately came to mind--she is so good with babies, and she breastfed her children so she understand the issues that go along with that. I called to see if she would keep the baby, and she offered to keep all three! I just knew she was crazy, seeing how she has 3 of her own, but she insisted.

The kids did great--Claire loved Emma Grace's doll house and girl toys, and Aaron and Cade played very well together. Little 1-year-old Avery Beth had trouble staying away from Hannah!

Michelle told me that when it was time for Hannah's first bottle, she got really mad and worked up. She could tell Hannah was hungry but she wanted her MAMA! Michelle called Aaron over to talk to Hannah, and as soon as he started talking to her, she calmed down. How sweet is that?

Claire's 2nd Birthday!

Today is Claire's 2nd Birthday! I can hardly believe that just two short years ago, she was a tiny 6 lb 8 oz baby resting in my arms. She is such a sweet, beautiful girl, and I feel so privileged to be her Mommy! Thank you Lord for two sweet years with our little angel.

Birthday!

Crazy Eights

Yesterday I taught Aaron how to play Crazy Eights. He loves to play games, and that one is fun and quick. Plus he got a new deck in a goody bag from a birthday party. The rest of the family was still napping so he and I had some quiet time together.

He immediately loved the game--especially when he had a "crazy 8" in his hand! He would get so excited when he got to play a crazy 8. He always saves his blue crazy 8 for last. He loves blue!

What melted my heart was when we were in the middle of a game and he said, "I wonder if Claire knows how to play Crazy Eights." That sweet boy loves his sister! Sure, Mommy can play with me--but how much more fun would this be if my sister could play??

So just a few minutes ago, before nap time, I got out the cards and let Claire and Aaron play a game. Claire did remarkably well. She was matching colors and even figured out which card to play by herself a couple of times. And Aaron loved playing a game with his sister. Sweet times!
