Aaron's Wild Ride

I took a few minutes this evening to make a video of Aaron's riding on Saturday.  Enjoy!

Hannah and Lilli

Hannah's best friend Lilli is my best friend Debra's little girl.  I am so excited they are getting to grow up together!  Lilli is 4 months younger than Hannah, so unfortunately later on down the road she'll be in a different grade than Hannah, but they can still be great friends (and neighbors)!

One afternoon when Hannah woke up from her nap, she was so excited to see that Lilli was at our house!  I was babysitting for a couple of hours, and Hannah could not have been happier!  I was amazed at how well they played.  Hannah actually stayed out of my hair, and out of everything, for the time she and Lilli were playing.  It was almost as if she was showing Lilli all her toys.

Giving hugs...

Pretty girl!

Hannah is saying "Cheese". :-)

Kisses!

Random memories

One day during Christmas break, we got home from the library and Aaron got immersed in a book about machines. I walked throuh the living room and found him like this:

Claire loves her Squinkies that she got from Uncle Andy for Christmas. If you can't tell from this picture, she shares a room (and toys) with her older brother.

A perfect day

We had spring-like weather today, around 75 and sunny, and it was such a tease because I know it's going to get cold again.  But it was surely a nice break from the cold, and so great that it happened on a Saturday when we had nothing planned!

First on the agenda...Aaron needed to get off the training wheels.  We took the bikes to the church parking lot and he learned how to do it!  It helped that his classmate who lives down the street said yesterday, "Isn't Aaron a little OLD for training wheels?"  I said, "Yes, he is!"

By the time we finished, he was riding across the entire parking lot by himself, and he even figured out how to get himself started. I got some video but have no idea when I'll have time to piece it together.

The girls got to ride, too.

And run around like crazy! We've been cooped up too long!

Next on the agenda was painting Mammaw's new door, but that was for Chris to do, so we just played outside at home for a while. Hannah got so filthy she needed a mid-day bath. That's a sure sign of a good time! Later in the afternoon we met friends for a short trip to the zoo. We actually took Aaron's friend with us, too.

And I got my new favorite picture.

A fun time was had by all!

Claire reading Green Eggs and Ham

Let me take a moment here to just gush over my middle child.  We were always so amazed by how smart Aaron is, how early he read, learned math, etc.  But Claire is learning these things even earlier!  I honestly think it's because she's watching Aaron, and she figures whatever he can do, she can do (better!).

She is an amazing reader.  At 4 1/2, she's been reading for several months, and she's moving to level 2 books right now.  She can just fly through the level 1 books, hardly stumbling at all.  She loves to read, and the library is one of her favorite places to go.  We get literally 40 or so books at a time.

She also loves to listen to audio books.  I have heard this helps make better readers, and I believe it.  She loves to listen to Junie B. Jones and Magic Tree House books.  She listens for literally hours almost every day.  She retreats to her room, puts on an audio book on her CD player, and plays back there for hours if we don't have any place to be.  It's quite amazing.  (We get the audio books at the library, too!)

Green Eggs and Ham is one of her favorite books, and it is one we own.  I wanted to remember her sweet reading voice so I videoed it tonight (forgetting how LONG that book is!).  At first she didn't know I was videoing, or if she did she didn't let on, but then once she knew the camera was there she was excited.  As soon as she was finished, she said, "Now I want to watch the video."  Sweet girl.  :-)

Now, if you have the patience, you can watch almost 10 minutes of Green Eggs and Ham.  It'll be about the cutest 10 minutes you'll spend today.

Gingerbread houses and Santa!

Making our gingerbread house...

Then on to the Enchanted Forest with good friends! We go every year to see Santa there, because I always get a great picture and it's just good fun. We all piled in my van and had a blast!  Conner, Sydney, and Aaron in the way back...

Claire and Hannah in the middle, and me and Stacy up front, trying to have grown-up talk while ignoring the noise in the rear!

We got to see how gingerbread houses are REALLY done!

The train is a crowd favorite.

Hannah loved this little white bridge. If I let her out of her stroller she would run like mad over to the bridge. Once I even lost her for a minute and found her over at the bridge!

Loved this gingerbread "church".  I think it's supposed to be Bellevue.

The kids with Santa...real picture to follow. It was a GREAT Santa pic!

Aaron had taken his list but Claire never finished hers so she didn't bring it. That morning Aaron put "Wii" at the top of his list. He had never mentioned getting one prior to that morning, and I was shocked he even thought to ask for it! Thankfully, Santa already knew he would love one and had already bought it!

After the Enchanted Forest we went to a fun yogurt bar for dessert. It was so fun hanging out with our friends!

Hannah at *almost* 20 months

I've been meaning to document some of Hannah's cuteness during this "year-and-a-half" golden age.  I remember with my first two thinking that about 18 months was one of my favorite ages, but Hannah is definitely making me re-evaluate that!  She is definitely cuter every day, talking more and more and getting more verbal, but this girl is into EVERYTHING!  She has learned to climb on kitchen chairs, which leads to the kitchen table.  Just tonight she found a caramel Dove chocolate piece on the table, unwrapped it, took a bite and said, "Mmmmm...mama!"  (Smart girl!)

She also climbs on the basket next to the laptop where she pulls down tissue and pens and anything else she can destroy.  She loves to get in the drawers in the bathroom and pull everything out and eat her toothpaste.  She climbs on the chair in her bedroom to get to the changing table to play with the lotion and the nose-sucker.  Tonight Chris found her sitting on the 2nd story of Claire's doll house, but we didn't get the camera back there in time.  It is exhausting chasing after her, but when she's not into everything, she is such a sweetheart!

She loves to do cute things on command, like wink...

or do touchdown arms or give kisses. She gives sweet hugs and kisses to stuffed animals and dolls.

She knows the sounds/signs for several animals, including elephant, monkey, horse, cow, dog, cat, rabbit, and probably a few others I'm forgetting at the moment.

While I in no way expect her to potty train anytime soon, she definitely is aware of her toilet needs. She often tells me before she poops in her diaper, and one day while sitting on the big potty she actually pooped in the toilet! Santa brought her a little potty for Christmas, and at least once or twice a day she comes and tells me "poop", mostly because she loves for me to strip her from the waist down and let her play in the bathroom. She won't sit still long enough to do anything on her little potty though so it might eventually get hidden and we can go back to using the big potty. We'll see, no rush!! I hate potty training!

She is such a good baby. Everyone who keeps her in nursery and her teacher at school say they've never heard her cry. She definitely knows how to turn on the water works when she's not getting something she wants. She stomps her feet and buries her head in whatever floor or cushion is nearby, trying to let me know that she is MAD about whatever it is.

She has also learned to tattle!! She will come crying to me "Bubba BOW" if Aaron was messing with her bow. Or "Bubba hat" if he pulled off her hat. Or "Bubba arm" if he hurt her arm. (Notice a trend??) A few days ago her friend Lilli was playing at our house and they had a couple of spoons (which Hannah got out of the silverware drawer which she can now reach!). Lilli took Hannah's from her and Hannah told me "Hannah 'poon" trying to get me to make Lilli give it back. I can't believe the tattling has already started!

Well, I could go on and on but that's probably a good update!

2nd Tooth Pulled

Aaron's 2nd tooth has been pretty wiggly, and Friday afternoon he got it in his head that he would pull it with a piece of dental floss tied to the tooth and a door knob.  I made him wait until Daddy got home to help with this project, and here's how it turned out...

Christmas Programs

Claire and Aaron had little Christmas programs at church one Sunday night. Claire's little choir, led by me and the other Little Kids Time Workers, sang Away in a Manger and Joy to the World.

Claire looked beautiful in her pretty new dress and braids!

Aaron had fallen at Kohl's the day before and got a HUGE cut and bump on his head, hence the band-aid...

My pictures during the program are not great because I gave my camera to a middle-schooler since I was directing and couldn't take pictures. I should have specified which child to photograph since very few of the pictures even included Claire. Ha!

Aaron's choir sang a few little songs, but I don't remember what they were!

Later in the month Claire and Hannah had their program at Mother's Day Out. How cute is Hannah with her little class?

I labeled Claire for you...

Singing Twinkle Twinkle...

And Jingle Bells!

They were all so cute!
