The Met Life Blimp

A couple of weeks ago the Met Life Blimp was parked at our local airport when it was not flying over the PGA golf tournament in Memphis. I contacted Met Life and arranged an airport tour for our playgroup.

The sun was BRIGHT and it was hot!

We got to talk to the pilot and see the crew cleaning it up to prep for the next day's flight. The crazy thing is that the blimp sways in the wind the whole time it's parked, so the guy cleaning the equipment is constantly just walking along next to the blimp while he does his repairs and whatnot.

Peanuts in the gondola!

"Look, Mom, I see Sloopy!"

Me with the kids!

The blimp wasn't as big as we had imagined. The pilot told us this is one of the smallest blimps you'll find. It's just big enough to carry a pilot and cameraman, and the camera equipment. And get this...NO AIR CONDITIONER.

The kids got bored with looking at the blimp and all hovered around Hannah, who enjoyed the attention.

What a fun outing!
