A good night's rest!

Saturday was a very busy day for us! Aaron stayed the night with his great-grandma on Friday, and Claire slept late--I guess just because it was Saturday! After a slow start we went to pick up Aaron. When we got home the kids got to play in the yard for a while with the neighbor's grandson, Jordan. The kids like going to Jordan's grandparents' house to see his toys, but this time Jordan got to come to our yard and play. It was fun to see Aaron playing with a neighborhood friend for the first time! They looked for roly poly's together and went for rides around the cove in the wagon.

At 2:00 we went to a birthday party for a friend. We tried to let Claire get a quick nap before we went, but since she had slept in that morning, she was just not tired enough. By 2:30 I could tell she was wearing down, but she was having so much fun at the party. The kids bounced in the moon bounce and played on the swing set. Claire had a meltdown when it was time to leave--she was so tired and grumpy and wanted to swing and bounce MORE! We finally got home at 4:30 and helped Daddy finish cleaning out the garage (which he did a GREAT job on, thank you sweetie!). We had one of Aaron's favorite dinners--BREAKFAST--we call it silly supper. Blueberry pancakes, biscuits, venison sausage, hash browns, and fresh strawberries. Yum yum yum! The kids were so cranky all through dinner despite the delish eats, and I knew we were going to have early bedtimes. The kids got straight into the bath, then jammies, teeth brushed, and into bed. Both kids were asleep before 7:15!! A first! It was still light outside and I felt like I was getting an extra hour tacked onto my day!

When Aaron woke up this morning around 7:30, he said, "Daddy! It stayed SEVEN all night long!" (He pays attention to the clock in his room and knows he goes to be at 8:00, normally, and can't get up until his clock has a 7.) When we were eating breakfast he looked out the window and said, "Mommy, it's light outside. It stayed light all night long!" I knew he rested well because he didn't ever know it got dark!
